I'm just trying to imagine any students with special abilities and/or wheelchairs getting around in these kind of conditions. Seems a little thoughtless.

This makes me think twice about sending one of my kids there. Oldest has a knee deformity like myself and walking on ice is a certain dislocation.

I have so many friends who have hurt themselves trying to get to class when it was way to unsafe to get there. There was one kid who had to go the hospital for a neck injury. This isn't a kid's wish to have snow days and get off school - this is to protect students and faculty.

Students should not have to risk injury or accidents to go to class. If K-12 doesn’t expect that, neither should a higher education institution.

When the sidewalks are covered with ice, and nothing more can be done, it is unsafe to have school.

Please consider that a lot of us can't skip class because some teachers do not allow makeups for tests/quizzes. Saying "well the lowest quiz grade is dropped so if you skip today it's fine" is NOT acceptable.

It is clear that the university does not prioritize the physical health of its students, Truman State University is as aware of their rigorous expectations for students as they were aware of the dangers of the inclement weather today. The Director of Public Safety chose to wait until 9:49 am to pretend that students who hold high academic expectations for themselves will choose to stay safe in their dorm/apartment/house instead of holding themselves up to the expectations that Truman professors have for them.
There really should be a procedure for this.

highly irresponsible of the administration
