With the others signatories below, I stand with the Jewish students of Simon Fraser University and condemn the trivialization and exploitation of the Holocaust by the SFU Muslim Students Association. The obscene comparison of Gaza to a concentration camp offends not only Jewish people, but all people of goodwill, while also offending decency, truth and fair discourse. The Muslim Students Association of SFU has the right to free expression. So do I. So do you. I condemn this abusive misappropriation of history. I urge all people, especially students of SFU, to learn about the Holocaust, to learn what is actually happening in Gaza, to learn about Hamas’s oppression of Gaza’s people and its genocidal objectives toward Israel and the Jewish people. I urge you to join me in asking members of the SFU MSA to search their consciences and engage in fair, factual and responsible discourse.
