Please add TN to your list of illnesses. This is a horrible condition for which no cause nor cure is known.

This is such an amazing cause. I have had Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia for 26 yrs. It took 14 yrs. to be diagnosed correctly. Dr.'s treated me like I was making up how horrendous the pain was. They said it couldn't be TN because TN is only on one side of your face & pain is sporadic. Mine was on both sides & constant(one side was MUCH worse than the other). Finally it was decided that it was Atypical TN. My life was ruined long before that. Over 150 specialists, many surgeries that actually worsened the pain. This started when I was 28, I lost a wonderful career, many relationships, I couldn't sleep due to the pain, I had a husband that didn't care & didn't bother to support me in any way. All of the specialists said that after having ATN for so long, that nothing could be done. They were afraid to try any of the correct surgeries & the longer nerve damage goes on, the harder it is to treat. "Suicide Disease" is the perfect name for it. I can't even believe that there is pain this bad, it also affects my right eye terribly. 26 1/2 yrs. after this started I am not even a person anymore. The massive, constant pain in my face & head have caused my face to be so ugly. I have now been battling cancer for over 11 yrs. Any treatment, surgery or pain I have from the cancer, can't even come close to the ATN. I am in the middle of divorcing the man that never cared about the ATN, imagine how "wonderful" he is with me having cancer, also. I just wish everything was over. There is no way out of this and how long can a person suffer such extreme pain!!!

We need awareness as many doctors and people do not know what this condition involves

The World Health Organization should take any and all steps necessary to increase awareness of Trigeminal Neuralgia and to promote research which helps find treatments and a cure to this horrible disease.

Had TN since 2005. All branches of trigeminal nerve are damaged as result of shingles. The pain I have is trigeminal neuropathic pain, which is the hardest to treat. The pain is so severe at times that I just want to try to sleep the day away. TN has stolen my life.

I have a friend who suffers from TN and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. Even his meds do not take the pain away and he suffers for weeks on end. How could a god be so cruel.
