More awareness & research is needed. The pain is just too excruciating as well as debilitating when it strikes.

I've been battling trigeminal neuralgia since the age of 16. I'm now 29 a nurse and a mother of four. I've had a MVD, gamma knife, and a rhizotomy. Im living in a nightmare because I'm still in pain on a daily basis! They've got to find a cure!

My 11 year old daughter has this. I feel that there is definitely not enough awareness about it, even the paediatrician currently treating her doesn't really seem to know what she is dealing with and can't understand why the first attempt of pain killers don't work.

My former wife suffers from TN. Before she was diagnosed, I had not heard of it, but things have changed since then. Many people have trouble understanding it as many sufferers function as normal between attacks and it is very hard for people without much exposure to comprehend how cruel and painful TN is. I have since got to know several people with TN, both on-line and in real life and unfortunately the name "suicide disease" has been proven to me not to be an over dramatization as a few of them have had enough of trying to live with the pain and have taken their own life. I know you can't come up with cures for every problem man suffers, but please do what you can to raise awareness of TN. At least then sufferers may be diagnosed a bit earlier and Doctors may be at least able to make a plan to cut down on the pain suffered. Thank you.

I was refused SSI Disability because my illness was not on their "automatic" list, and it is poorly understood, even by health professionals.

I am new to this horrid condition, or should I say it's new to me. Current treatments are not satisfactory. The medications used leave many in a foggy daze, living out their lives as a mere shell of who they once were. And many still live in pain, regardless of their medications or previous surgical procedures. This condition steals the lives of its victims. It steals the victims from their loved ones. Trigeminal Neuralgia MUST be stopped. Please, do everything in your power to end the suffering. We need your help. Thank you.
