I had TN and it most definitely ruins your life. The pain is horrific. I have had the EVD surgery but now I am left with the whole right side of my face & tongue numb. It makes it very difficult to eat, especially when you are eating out anywhere, because I cannot tell if there is food on the right side of my face since it is numb. I Hate It!

More research should be done on TN. It is not just about taking meds to control the pain...it is about a solution...a real solution....it is extremely hard to watch a loved one going through these pain episodes and suffer this much....it really changes everything in life...please take action on TN...it is most painful disease humankind has ever known, it is like torture...please find a definite cure.

My daughter Katie Perry was first diagnosed in 2010 and finally had surgery on the TN nerve in March of this year (2014). She too saw many different providers but one of the biggest issues she had was the times she ended up in the ER and many of those docs thought she was in there for a "fix". She was on a cocktail of narcotics to manage her pain up to the point of the surgery & it took a lot of explanation in the ER WHY she needed these meds.Thank you for getting this information out finally.

Im a 36 year old mother of two, wife, sister, daughter and friend who suffers from this terrible disease which causes an unimaginable pain by the rest of the people who have never felt it. It is and exasperating and excruciating pain that doesn't let you think, work, act and function as normal human being when you are under it! People not even the majority of doctors are really aware of this illness! We need to make awareness of this disease, it has to be added to the health topic list of the world health organization. Awareness and funds should be raise to find a cure. Sincerely, Alexandra Troche AKA Beba Triv

I think that the misdiagnosis rate might also be higher because as in my case it came and went for a bit before settling in.
This was over a twenty year period.

Please add Trigeminal Neuralgia to the "Health Topics" list.
By adding Trigeminal Neuralgia to your health topic list this will also open doors for all neuralgia and facial pain disorders!
It will create awareness, access to resources and create opportunities for funding & research.
TN is...characterized by episodes of intense pain in the face originating from the Trigeminal Nerve. The pain felt is the most excruciating known to man, Hence why it is called the "Suicide Disease".

My daughter lives in the United Kingdom and has TN for seven years. No one in England has helped in anyway other than pouring meds into her. She will be coming to the USA where I and her mum live to go through a Deep Brain Stimulation which will rid her of all pain. The doctor in the USA has a seven years track record of success. Lets bring global awareness to this awful condition. it is called the suicide condition for a reason.
