There’s vintage. There’s retro.

And then there’s what’s right.

What we believe is right is for the Mariner’s logo is for it to revert back to its original form, the simple trident. The nineties are over. The otts are over for that matter, meaning there’s no place for turqoise in Seattle’s longest standing major sports professional team. Leave the turqoise for the Cascade’s wondrous alpine lakes where it belongs.

Let’s get back to basics. Let’s get back to a logo that we can adore for the next 100 years. One that won’t bend to trends or a few losing years. Let’s have the chance for three generations of fans to go to the ballpark together and have the same, perfectly designed trident upon their ball cap represent their pride in the club.

There’s no reason ancient baseball clubs like the Red Sox and the Yankees should have the discipline to never change their logo. We had something great enough to stand up to their monoliths of simplicity, and we threw it away.

Well, it’s not too late to get it back.
