You are 100% correct. We are looked over and looked at as just tree guys. Not the case all. Linemen have an option to shutbthe power off or atleast the correct tools to get the job at hand done. We as Trimmers are handed the most basic equipment and expected to work miracles. In which, most of the times we get it done safely with no damage. If you'd ask me thats skill. I stand with everyone on this. Ive said it since I started tree work. Now that im union and work along side of the linemen, its a whole different world. Most of the guys respect you and have done tree work before the line side. Most of them agree we are under paid as well.

Been in the Ibew since 1986. 15 years as a journeyman tree trimmer and the rest as journeyman lineman. Roping,rigging and safe removal of trees is a skill few possess let alone working at extreme heights either in the hooks (climbing) or out of a bucket. The trade deserves the “skilled” designation!!!

I was a plasterer and that was class as a skill. Now I do tree work and I no it a lot more skilled trade then an other

We aren't paid near what we should be. I climb and clear powerlines for a whopping 14$ per hour. New Orleans.

This is a dangerous job and the people who do it need to be respected as skilled laborers. This is absolutely a skilled trade.

Please acknowledge that tree trimmers are skilled workers. They deserve this for all of their dangerous work that they do.
