As a tax payer and resident of the SFV, I am beyond frustrated that so many rights denied me are being extended to those who break the laws on a daily basis. It's time to take a stand and so something about the homeless and transient situation. The valley has decayed at an alarming rate in recent years, with rampant drug use and a proliferation of the mentally ill. It's time to fix this.

When I moved into Chatsworth, I was able to take walks with my kids and enjoy the evening air. Take in the scenery and say hello to the people walking by. A friendly smile here and there a wave at the neighbors. Fast forward 5 years and 20lbs gained. I can’t walk with my kids or wave to the neighbors anymore. We go to walk our pet and see a man laying on the ground passed out. Or the needles laying about. A man tried to fight my son because he wouldn’t give him money. My daughter is instructed to walk straight home after school because I can’t trust that your keeping my family safe from these drug addicts, gang members and the mentally ill. This shouldn’t be the tax payers problem. Little by little you are ignoring the very people who are working hard to keep our city and the Valley a great family place. We are now pleading for YOUR help. You have the power to make this city shine! Are you willing to stand up for the tax payers? We’re ready to help!

I grew up in Chatsworth and am horrified to see the changes in the last few years. I have found needles, meth pipes, drugs, marijuana, and human feces all over the town. I see passed out junkies sleeping on the street or walking in a daze everywhere. Our beautiful Chatsworth library is not a place for children or the community anymore because the junkies are either sleeping half naked on the patio, leaving needles in the bathroom, smoking drugs in the bushes or congregating inside. I carry pepper spray everywhere. Decrepit RV’s are dumping their waste water onto the street. The sidewalks are covered in leaves, pine needles, overgrown weeds, bushes and trash. I am sick of this and demand action.
