This is a trendy school with exceptionally bright kids and we should keep the school open as we carry out the mission of God to spread the gospel to the young children who would become future apostles of Christ.

The Archdiocese is making a huge mistake by neglecting education. A catholic education plays a key role in keeping the faith going from generation to generation. I chose to send my daughter to Catholic school so that she would have consistency between the moral values and religious teachings taught at home and those taught in school. Now, there is a question of whether she will be able to go to catholic school this school year. It is not a given that the nearest catholic school is accepting new students, nor that it is close enough to my job or home. The Church is losing followers and will continue to lose them by making decisions like this one. The children are the future of the church and therefore educating them and keeping the schools open and subsidizing them should be top priority but instead, the schools are being shut down. It makes no sense that if two schools that are in close proximity (e.g., Transfiguration and St. Joseph’s) merge, you still don’t have enough money to keep them open when merging schools reduces operating expenses. I understand that the Archdiocese has a financial reality that must be faced but making cuts on education is a mistake and doing so three weeks before the school year and in the middle of a pandemic is not in line with Christian values. You simply dismiss everyone (students, administrators, teachers) by sending a letter and a link to a list of catholic schools. We don’t know if the nearest schools have the capacity to accept the kids. You also need to consider that we’re in the middle of a pandemic and teachers and administrators will not be able to find jobs. This pandemic has affected all household in one way or another and this decision negatively impacts many households even further. Even merging schools at this time is wrong because it means that there are teachers and administrators that will lose their jobs three weeks before the school year and without any prospect of getting another one any time

Please reconsider this decision about closing TA. I feel the decision was too early and too late for the school year.

As a former student, I believe that TA should remain open as it has an amazing and welcoming atmosphere

Keep it open, this is unfair to the teachers, students, parents and staff in the Bergenfield community.

Please take into consideration the staff as well as the families of our school. The decision to close the school was too early as children were still registering for the school year and families were left without care for their children.

This is not the right time for the educators and students to lose their second home!

The Board needs to reconsider. It’s impossible to find a new school with such short notice and during a pandemic

As a proud TA alumna, I ask the Archdiocese of Newark to reconsider their decision to close down what many, students and faculty alike, have seen as a second home. Private Catholic education is a privilege that has been taken away from many students and parents so close to the beginning of the school year. In the 10 years I attended this school, what had impacted me the most was the wisdom, encouragement and guidance of my teachers who have now lost their jobs. My thoughts and prayers go out to the faculty and staff of TA, the students and parents, and most of all to the Archdiocese of Newark to rethink their decision that impacts so many lives.

Please re open up the school. Many parents were looking forward to this as a certainty among all of this pandemic madness.
