Traffic Safety corrections needed on RT 9W in Palisades, NY

Since moving here three years ago it is amazing that the pleas for help @ this intersection takes so long to get attention. I have witnessed many accidents of all levels most recently an OVERTURNED car going North on 9w @ the exit of the long bend at the top of the road (too fast, distracted wet road, animal crossing whatever the case). You cannot wait for a bus in either direction vehicles take the liberty to use the shoulder of the road. In the event a vehicle is turning either east or west traffic doesn't slow down and wait it uses the shoulder to speed right past! The risk to turning traffic and those waiting for the bus is obvious. Speed is always a concern again if you want to make this a overall safe intersection friendly to both pedestrians and vehicles: do more then just listen to the community take action!

I have lived in Rockland County for almost 30 years. Several years ago, a dear, dear friend's husband was killed in an accident VERY close to the 9W/Oak Tree Road intersection. Somebody PLEASE pay attention to this petition.

I've lived in the community more then 22 years and despite that it's convenient for me to travel through this corridor, I go through great efforts to avoid it ! I instruct the rest of my family to do so as well. The risks are very real and need to be addressed.

I am a very concerned resident living on rte 9w in Piermont. In my 20 years living on this road I have witnessed an astonishing number of very serious accidents, but very little has been done to tame the traffic.

Drive 9W regularly there. Agree traffic ought to be made safer. Drivers fly through there with little though to residents, pedestrians and cyclists.

Agree completely. Every encounter at this intersection is a risky endeavor.

This was always a dangerous road - Tom Ross was a dear friend of mine - he didn't need to die on this dangerous road!

This petition is to save lives!!!! People have suffered enough losses!

Need to make it illegal for Northbound drivers to pass those turning left, West, into Oak Tree Road by entering the shoulder and passing them on the right. They are a danger to southbound drivers turning left, East, into Washington Spring Road.
