I support Jacobs petition. Trying to cross Wakefield St as a pedestrian or cyclist is hazardous! My 3 teenage daughters get concerned when they have to cross this road to attend their squad training at Sandgate State School, my girls say that it can be hard to judge speed and distance of vehicles when they're trying to cross this busy road.
So many children cross this road to go up to the lagoon, it really needs a crossing.
Thanks

Really tough for kids to cross these busy roads, especially in the morning traffic. We should be encouraging our local children to ride, walk, scooter to school for health, its a great start to their day. This intersection is really dreadful.

My husband is a cyclist and was run down in the bicycle lane. He is experienced so could avoid death. A child in the same circumstances could not.
Please make them safer.

Every child should be safe when they walk or ride their bike to school.

My grandsons could ride their bikes to and from school if there were lights at the intersection of Wakefield St and Brighton Tce. As it is, it is too unsafe!

Ive had the horrifying experience of witnessing a pedestrian get hit through lack of safe crossing facilities. I hope it wont take any injury for action to take place. Children trying to go to school or any pedestrian living locally must have safe and practicibly accessible areas to cross the roads, especially busy ones. We have a duty of care in society to ensure all locals of all ages can move about their day safely. Children deserve safe passage to school.

I do feel it’s important for safety and for physical excercise, let’s keep the kids safe and encourage them to ride a bike.

I absolutely agree with you Jacob. Traffic lights need to be installed as a priority before someone loses their life.
