CALL TO ACTION: Petition for a New Traffic Light & Road Improvements at Legion Road and John J Williams Hwy (Rt 24)
We, the undersigned, will urge DelDOT to install a traffic light(s) and improve road conditions at the intersection of John J Williams Hwy (Rt 24) and Legion Road. This intersection experiences ever increasing volumes of traffic and high wait times. There is a history of accidents due to a lack of proper traffic flow, one resulting in a fatality. Installing a traffic light would dramatically improve the flow of traffic, reduce wait times and decrease the potential for dangerous accidents.

This is a major safety issue. A traffis light is badly needed at this intersection. Especially in the summer months when Rt. 24 traffic is 4 to 5x greater.
A traffic signal is needed at this intersection. Reduction of 50mph speed limit and timing of other nearby traffic signals on 24 are needed in this area for safety.
I’m always concerned when making the turn on to Legion Rd from the westbound lane! Everyone breaks the law by crossing over the SOLID WHITE LINE trying to go around me! It is even more terrifying when I am riding my motorcycle! I have often heard the squealing of brakes behind my due to an inattentive driver! Please fit this dangerous situation immediately!
The intersection at Legion Road and John J Williams Highway needs a traffic light. Making a left turn on to 24 has become a unsafe driving experience. Many accidents have occurred there. The backup to turn left can take up to 10 minutes. Drivers have become inpatient while waiting and either honk their horns or shout out profanities directed at other drivers.
I support this as someone who has had experience with the issues addressed in this petition and have also observed a handful of near accidents due to high volume traffic, speeding motorists, and lack of better judgement while navigating the intersection.

Currently this intersection has a negative impact on residents and school buses as well as emergency services. A traffic signal is desperately needed to decrease or totally prevent drivers and pedestrians from injury or death. The increased traffic count after construction of Peninsula Lakes only adds to a dangerous situation.
