Traffic calming measures needed on New Mills Road, Hayfield

This is a dangerous stretch of road and the speed limit needs to be reduced immediately to 20mph.

It is getting worse there is going to be a serious accident here soon if it not stored.

There is a massive and urgent need for drastic measures to slow traffic down on new mills road entering hayfield.

A Pelican crossing is needed.

This is a very dangerous stretch of road and I agree that a 20 mph limit is needed - and the 40 mph on the bypass reduced to 30 mph as vehicles zoom in off that road and don’t seem to see the crossing. Something must be done before a serious accident happens - traffic calming, lower speed limits, better signage - whatever it takes to protect lives.

Something needs to be done at the junction of chapel street and new mills road also, dangerous turning in when parked cars are too near the junction.

traffic too fast and bad parking on both sides contribute to this danger. Cars trying to make gaps then going too fast to stop at the crossing.

I think a stop sign is needed instead of a give way at the junction with Chapel Road

I use this zebra crossing often with my children and vehicles regularly fail to stop. There are too many distractions for drivers as they are looking beyond the crossing at the adjoining roads and the busy junction with the A624. It needs to be converted to a crossing with traffic lights.

Reducing the speed limit to 20 would be the most effective way to slow traffic down before it comes round the corner near Hallam’s garage. Many drivers don’t slow after the short 40 mph limit leading into the village which means most are still driving to fast when they come round the bend. Replacing this short stretch with a 30mph limit would also help.

Much too fast. Have not much time to cross on the corner by the bungalows.

Significant number of cars, vans and lorries look at the straight section of road and plough on through with no regard to the speed limit. So, so many times I've been stood at the zebra crossing and drivers just do not acknowledge it's there. Add to this the ever growing number of cars parked on the pavement on both sides of the road and living on this road is becoming increasingly dangerous.

This is a narrow stretch of road with hidden entrances and tight bends and is the exit from a fast downhill bypass. The potential for serious accidents is high to severe.

Please slow the traffic down on New Mills Rd before there’s a serious accident

Traffic rarely stops when I’ve used the zebra crossing with my children. Drivers just don’t seem to even notice it’s there and those that do just don’t seem to want to stop.

We have 2 small children and live on Nee Mills Rd, the traffic speeds up and there are so many distractions going on all at the same time, road junctions, cars parked, pedestrian crossings, it’s potentially very dangerous for elderly, children, people with pushchairs, dogs etc, thanks

I agree, also, the number of park cars specifically double parking either side of the road does not help either, often delivery drivers park wherever. It's just a dangerous stretch of road for various reasons in my opinion. Although speeding will make navigating the others cars on the road more difficult.
