I’ve had more than one incident at the zebra crossing where cars failed to stop, once when we were crossing with children.

This is an accident waiting to happen. We feel very vulnerable when walking from the bottom of Chapel Street towards the by pass as the pavement is narrow. Vehicles do not always slow down to 30mph as they turn off the by pass at 40mph. Also it is a dangerous left or right turn for vehicles coming out of the bottom of Ridgetop Lane or Chapel Street onto New Mills Road, even though there is a pedestrian crossing outside St John’s Church. It is also difficult to get in or out of Station Road. Buses use this road so need more time to turn the bus right or left onto New Mills Road. Traffic calming measures or clearer road signage warning drivers to take care are vital.

People fly off the bypass onto New Mills Road like it’s a continuation of a 40/50 mph road.
