Hi, On Huia Road we also see many speeding drivers attempting to gain advantage and use Huia Road as a shortcut at key times of the day. Specifically 7.00-8.30am on weekday mornings and from 4.30-6.pm in the evenings. The cars are traveling at pace and do not slow down for almost anything. Something must change to ensure the incentive to cut through child filled residential streets near the motorway at speed is reduced. Everyone on our street discusses this issues all the time and specifically in the context of, lets do something about it before one of our kids gets run over and killed. I have two small boys, 2 and 3 years old I fear for them already. Also late night boy racers are known to cut through at speeds well in excess of 100km. 32 Kiwi Rd Pt Chevalier

I live on Moa Rd where its not only an attractive through street increasing traffic but the wide , hilly street has caused it to become a rally track with not a policeman in sight to curtail this dangerous racerboy behaviour, neither animal or child is safe. It is long past due that engineering measures are put in place to address this.

My daughter witnesses multiple crashes and near misses on these streets and intersections.

Great idea. Something urgently needs to be done before someone is killed. I live in Moa Road near the intersection with Tui Street and it's amazing how many vehicles ignore the Compulsory Stop sign there

Good call. Residential areas should not be more than 30 km/h anyway.

I live on Wakatipu St and am often woken by the cars racing during the night, as well as during the day. Many seem to race down Walmer then do a hard left into Wakatipu St going great guns. Even tho there are stop signs on Huia and Kiwi Rds I never take it for granted as I travel along my Street (Wakatipu) that cars will actually stop. There are so many more young children in the area now and with the kindergarten being built next year, the traffic issues need to be sorted. Wakatipu St/ Walmer Rd is used as a short cut from Pt Chev Rd to connect onto Gt North Rd and at peak times can be busy.

I live on Walmer Road. I hear/see cars ripping along all of the streets discussed here day and night. Even though there is a speed hump on Walmer it makes little difference, as drivers still race up/down the hill before/after it. The boys racers (and plenty of others) love getting up to speed where Walmer Rd dips. I have have had a parked car written off outside my house, which resulted in the drivers of the moving vehicle going to hospital. I have had numerous close calls day & night at the intersection of Tui & Walmer, as people regularly run the stop signs on Tui. The intersection of Wakatipu & Walmer is also a problem (and right where the new Kindergarten traffic will come out), where drivers on the Wakatipu Give Way look left, then pull out into Walmer without looking right. I've nearly been T-Boned there a couple of times. Cars can be so fast and close up Walmer that several have nearly gone into the back of of me when I try to tun into my drive. My husband and visitors have had the same problem. It's ridiculous.

Many boy racers (and not necessarily boys) not stopping at Moa Rd/Tui St intersection. Also Birds Roads used as quick exit. Give us judder bars as they were once called prior to the pc of today.

Wakatipu St & Huia Rd are also used as shortcuts and often people are speeding. Lots of accidents and near misses as people barely notice to the stop signs. I agree, please make some streets one way or put speed humps in to encourage drivers to stay on arterial routes.

People have been using our street ( Tui) as a speeding shortcut for years. This will only get worse when the new SW motorway tunnel traffic joins the NW as the off ramp for Pt Chev is at Western Springs! Traffic calming measures have been used in some streets but not others!!!!!

Please help restrict traffic on these streets. These are residential streets full of young children the speed of some motorists needs to be slowed down with more judder bars or one way streets??encourage traffic to stay on the main arterial routes.

Please help us keep Pt Chev safe for everyone especially our precious littlies

My brother and I grew up on these streets, rode my bikes and delivered papers here. Please keep them safe for our children!
