It is important that our kids feel safe with all the news they hear about violence happening at other schools in Colorado . If high level education is the mission, sadly, taking away the distraction of fear must be a part of the plan in today’s world. Please provide a full time officer for Twin Peaks Charter Academy!

I’m worry for the school security where my child attends and also all the kids from other schools. It’s not fair for our kids not to feel save at the only place they go to educate them selves

In addition to the training SROs can utilize in an emergency, they form relationships with students regarding safety issues and are in touch with the mental health climate at the school in a unique way, and, as such, can have a profound role in the prevention of dangerous situations. The safety of students at Twin Peaks is as important as at any other district school.

I worked in the front office at Twin Peaks Charter Academy from 2014 through 2016 and then worked at a Florida elementary school front office from 2016 through 2018 and this school had a SRO. The SRO worked every day to keep our campus safe and supported the front office personnel who were responsible for buzzing visitors in the front office which also gave those visitors campus access. The SRO was there for me when a parent who had too much to drink came to pick up their child. He was there to help when parents who were angry needed to be calmed down. SRO's are needed on campus in today's world! Please provide TPCA with the security they need to keep our students safe.

If requests are made and nothing is done, it leaves our school district with a very large liability exposure. This exposure, along with the possible exposure to our children, most definitely outweighs any expense to the district. I believe our school is at a much larger exposure with having such a broad range of ages.
