Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Goodlatte

The telephone town hall is just not adequate representation of your constituency. I received no notice of the call until it was happening which showed Rep. Goodlatte's lack of regard for the input of 6th district voters. In my view, it was a weak attempt to appear "available".

Meet with us in person. A town hall is way past due.

I was disappointed that Congressman Goodlatte did not appear in person at the Broadway town hall meeting. I understand that that has been the case and pattern for several years. We anticipate meeting with you in the near future. There are many important matters to discuss, and sending a proxy who has no authority to comment is insufficient. We requested and expect copies of your answers to our questions from the last meeting, and are hopeful that you will attend your upcoming meetings in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Thank you for showing your constituents that you are listening and engaged.

Please get reacquainted with your constituents by holding an in-person town hall meeting in Harrisonburg and another city in your district. With so many critical issues affecting us all, effective exchange of viewpoints is needed now more than ever! Thank you.

Rep Bob Goodlatte - you are 3 years overdue for scheduling a public Town Hall. Please fulfill your responsibilities and make us proud to have you as our Rep.. It's essential in a democracy.

Representative Goodlatte - Please come! We need you!

Are you afraid to face the people you represent in congress? Do we need to arrange bus loads of people to decend on your DC office and stage a sit in to get your attention? Your job is to listen to what we have to say then do what the majority of us want. If you continue to put party over your constituants we will not return you to off in the next election.

You work for us Bob and we deserve some answers!

Telephone town hall not enough

Rep Goodlatte, you need to meet with your constituents. Your district is only 2 - 4 hours from Washington. Calling a Tele-meeting by calling and saying it is right now, when you have everybody's email address is not acceptable, and is disrespectful. And it was right at supper time! It was worse than nothing

Telephone or even virtual town halls are no replacement for in-person meetings. Meet with the people or bust.

Please come back to the valley to meet with your constituents

As my representative, I expect you to respond to your constituents. I expect you to hold regular (i.e., at least every quarter) in-person meetings in the county seat locations at 5pm. I expect you to notify your constituents in a timely manner and hold the meetings in an appropriately sized locale. This is *the least* you can do, and it is your responsibility--your *job.*

We ask Congressman Bob Goodlatte and his staff to organize a public town hall meeting. We ask that Congressman Goodlatte commit to planning and attending this meeting to hear from his constituents. Congressman Goodlatte's staff often hold "open door" meetings that the Congressman does not attend. We are asking for a true public town hall meeting with Congressman Goodlatte to hear directly from our representative. The town hall meeting should occur on or before April 8, 2017, in order for him to get timely feedback from the people he represents. The town hall meeting should occur in Roanoke, Lynchburg, or Harrisonburg in an effort to be convenient to the majority of his constituents. The town hall should occur after 5pm on a weekday or on a weekend so that the majority of his working constituents will be able to attend. In addition to signing this petition, please call Congressman Goodlatte and/or send him a letter to express our request. You can follow this basic format when you call or write: "My name is francis devroux, and I am a constituent from Natural Bridge 24578. I would like to urge Congressman Goodlatte to organize and attend a public town hall meeting by April 8th. The people he represents would value the opportunity to voice our concerns and hear from our representative. Thank you.

I don't care who my representative is as long as he or she is part of the community and not just another piece of virtual reality.

The "Telephone Town Hall" meetings cannot replace face-to-face communication with your constituents. Schedule an in-person town hall, Mr. Goodlatte.
