Keeping chickens en masse in sheds is inhumane. Having a few chickens in the backyard has multiple benefits as listed in this petition, I urge the new Toronto City council to allow the citizens of Toronto to raise chickens in our backyards

If you truly work for the people of Toronto, change the law to let hens be responsibly and humanely kept. If you betray the people of Toronto, you are only showing your true colours by supporting big agro!

There is no reason why we shouldn't be allowed to have chickens in Toronto. They are generally quieter than dogs, don't make a lot of mess or smell, and provide food.

There is no reason that we should not be able to take care of chickens in our backyards and homes with the proper care and attention they deserve.

give us the rights to grow our own food and provide for our families. where we have the space, time, and means we should have no limits in providing for ourselves.

Needless to say the benefits from raising backyard chicken as long as we keep the backyard neat and clean, it is the same thing as we pickup dog's poops. We urge Toronto City Council, to update the Toronto Municipal Code in order to permit the responsible keeping of backyard chickens.

If you can have backyard chickens in Manhattan, there's no reason not to allow them in Toronto!

Can't the city of toronto come up with a cash grab for this? Paying for chicken licensing or something like that?

If my neighbor's dog can roam freely on the street, harassing residents and leaving gifts- then I don't see whats the big deal with having a bird or two in a pen. If not, please send someone to deal with my neighbor.

We have the right to raise our own food safely, hygienically and humanely in our own backyards. I raise chickens here in Sydney, Australia and as a Canadian hoping to move back to Toronto soon I would be severely disappointment in my hometown if backyard chickens were not allowed.
