I should be allowed to grow chicken in my backyard. It is good for environment because chicken can be fed with kitchen waste and left overs. It will eliminate to waste disposal issue. Chicken can also fertilize my home garden.

Using my land is a basic right. I can understand if there are problems with someone having too many animals crammed in a small space, but 10 chickens wouldn't kill anyone considering the size of my yard, the fencing and that I have room for a coop.

The City of Toronto allows dogs that bite and make noise in neighbourhoods, cats that over-breed and have run of the streets yet we are not allowed to have chickens that stay on the property and produce eggs and recycle leftovers. They do not bite, they are not disruptive and they do not leave feces on other people's property.

Raising chickens for one's own eggs is the most sustainable act an individual can do. It is also the only way you can know no animals were mistreated to produce your food! And they are the loveliest of pets.

I have serious food allergies and ever since I started growing my own backyard food my allergic episodes have decreased by over 80%. I will like to take that a step further and also include 3-4 chicken in my backyard. I have the space, the patience and time to adequately take care of my birds. I Am doing my little bit to help my city, Would You- as the legislators stand with me and others and help us do the same? Allow people with adequately sized backyards to have chicken. Thank You! Josie

Chicken is much quitter than dog, never ever disturbs anybody at night. Non agresive-not like kiler Cat Friendly to kids. Eat leftover-very little left for green bin. Give eggs and provides companionship.Vet will dispose of a sick chicken or treat it.

I live in Burlington and soon moving to Hamilton, and I am signing this petition in hopes of influencing my local municipalities and ending such biased an unfounded bylaws preventing raising chickens in all urban cities in Canada.

It just makes sense. I'm allowed in the city of Brantford, and I don't know what I would do without them now that I've had them! I want other cities to be able to share the joy of raising chickens.
