Keep major arterial roadways as they are. We need 2 lanes of traffic going each way in order to keep idling car pollution down (from 1 lane of snarled, snaking traffic due to bike lanes). Emergency vehicles and fire trucks need 2 lanes of traffic to navigate safely. Stop further congestion!

The city's plans for more bike lanes on major roads is more about trying to worsen vehicular road conditions to frustrate drivers out of their cars and onto a failing, unsafe TTC option, than it is about meeting the needs of the average cyclists.
The majority of cyclists are currently travelling quite safely to their destinations on side streets. As more cyclists join them THESE popular side streets should be the ones marked as bike lanes with accompanying signage directing cyclists efficiently through subdivisions on routes parallel to the major roads nearest them.
The majority of cyclists I see aren't riding $3,000, well-balanced bikes hoping to shave 3 minutes off their trip on a major road doing 50Km/hr. These are the cyclists however, that are the only “community” voice being heard by city council because it not only meets their agenda, but the TTC’s agenda as well.

I live near high park and parkside is a complete disaster now that the weather is warming up people should not be allowed to park on parkside at all as it turns two lanes into one and creates a line up from lakeshore to almost Bloor street

I am not against bike lanes. That said, it doesn't makes numerical sense to me to use up space for bike lanes on major arteries, which already face congestion. How in a democratic society is trying to retrofit major city streets to accommodate a cyclist population of less than 5%, over the 95% majority, considered reasonable, especially where we have snow 3-5 months of the year? Find other ways to improve biking, but recognize that cars & transit are still the major means of commuting in Toronto. I also concur with many of the other comments in this petition.

Bike lanes on Danforth Ave. have created nothing but gridlock. During rush hour it is even worse. Walking is faster! Bad idea right from the start.

Remove the bike lanes on Bloor and other main streets in Toronto they are creating more environmental pollution with all the traffic congestion. They also compromise people’s safety. A family member had to wait 30-45 min for an ambulance to arrive because of the bike lanes. It was ridiculous! Can’t help but think if a person had a stroke or heart attack they’d be dead due to the bike lanes. I really wonder how many of our city planners have actually got out of city hall and experienced how inefficient our city is now to get around. They need to remove the bike lanes.
