I also think a best ensemble Tony award should be considered. Like this season, if the wonderful ensemble cast of Stereophonic was honored with a separate ensemble award, the categories would fill with other worthy nominees from a wider range of productions.

Without the brilliant, hard-working creatives behind wig and makeup teams, your shows would look vastly different from the audience's perspective. Imagine Hair and Hamilton and Hedwig and Mamma Mia and Les Mis and etc without wigs and makeup. These wonderful theatre artists are integral to the aesthetic of every single show (INCLUDING the awards show performances themselves), so it is long overdue that you recognize these people for their work.

Hair and makeup designers must be recognized for their artistic contribution. As a costume designer, the hair and makeup designer is my creative partner in fully creating the character. Audience members and Tony voters are looking at a head to toe look created by both a Costume Designer and a Hair & Makeup Designer.
