Hair and makeup design is important to the appearance of all actors. Without them it would be impossible to put the story to work.

As a costume designer, I’m sick and tired of being looked at for hair/makeup answers because the company didn’t budget for hair/makeup support. There are design, skills, and training involved and it should require a separate designer. Fully supporting this long overdue campaign.

As a crafts artisan I often work closely between costume designers and wig, hair, and, makeup designers for hats, masks, dye work, and accessories. It is beyond time WHAM design is recognized by the American Theatre Wing for their incredible contributions to the character design.

They deserve recognition. Doing hair and makeup is not an easy job and have to do those things so precise adds some pressure.

Once you know how much thought, effort, research, creativity, passion, skill, collaboration, and time are put into each and every character's hair, wig and makeup design, this becomes a no brainer. NOW is the time to correct this. Honor the work of those who help tell Broadway's amazing stories.

Wi ked, The Wiz Cabaret, Sweeney Todd... How is their best costume design but no mention of hair and makeup?? At least give a Tony to the hair and makeup people when they win for best costume.
This should have been done already! Shame on you TONY!
