I work as a wig designer for Walt Disney World, and while the performers make it very rewarding, it is a very thankless job. We do a lot of hard work throughout the day to ensure the show always goes on, yet lately decisions have been made that make it seem as though anyone can do our role with or without a cosmetology license and we are getting the same compensation. I am signing this petition in hopes to have more respect and recognition towards the hair and makeup profession.

Wig, Hair and Makeup are absolutely vital to completing a character through visual storytelling. It is past time the ARTISTS that work tirelessly to create the art we get see transform a stage (and somehow remain some of the kindest and passionate people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing) get the recognition and celebration they deserve.

This category is an absolute must. Wig/Hair/Makeup are essential to character development and the overall clarity and spectical of storytelling, whether the design be realistic, fantastical or otherwise. These designers should be recognized for their artistry, vision, time and collaboration.
