I strongly oppose any change to the existing zoning requirements that would allow this church / school function as requested. The impact will greatly effect the surrounding property owners of which I am one by the raise in taxes, increased traffic as well as lower property values.

Last I read, Chabat was offered location at synagogue on Old Freehold Road after Rabbi of Chabat filed discrimination charges. Since he wasn't being taxed due to non-profit/religious exemption until his variance was denied, he thinks paying property taxes like the rest of us is discriminatory. It's fallen into limbo re: status of property, so I imagine he still isn't paying taxes on the 8 acre property. Would enjoy seeing an update re: status.

As a resident of Toms River since May 2010 my property taxes have increased by more than $3,000! TR must strictly control the zoning ordinances to maintain both the cost of living and quality of life in TR.

This group would set a legal precedent for hundreds of other tax-exemption seekers to do the same, which would create an additional tax burden (ie.,the taxes that they would not be paying), that the residents of Toms River would have to pick up in their stead (unfair to the hard-working citizens of Toms River).

Sorry but I have to get this off my chest. I just wanted to cut to the chase. This was an issue with the Jewish community back in 2005 when the Larcardi house located on 1500 Vermont Avenue in Lakewood was sold. It sits on the border line of Lakewood and Toms River and was perched by the Jewish community.This house is zoned residential and then suddenly the house turns into an illegal Hassidic Yeshiva School. Not to mention the illegal school they built right in its own back yard. Now I do understand that the township of Lakewood has it own Zoning and Planning board that does not apply by the other surrounding towns.If anyone gets a chance go over and take a look at that discussing mess that is going on in the North Dover section of town. From North Maple to Vermont Ave and now on Hickory Street .My daughter and their family were chased out by the Jewish community in Lakewood and now they are putting there house up for sale and leaving the North Dover section. I blame Toms River Mayor and entire Township for what has happened. Plenty of letters have been sent back in 2005 and nothing was done about it. To close this out I wish all of you luck in fighting this losing battle with the Jewish community.
As some one on here stated they are coming and no one will stop them.

There is no need in TR to have a religious school in a residential area. The town needs to consider the impact on all its residence. And it's a disgrace what has happened to Lakewood - it's basically a ghetto now-all dilapidated.

Meeting re-scheduled again!! The second hearing on the Chabad Jewish Center's application before the Board of Adjustment has been scheduled for April 14.
The zoning board on Thursday set the new meeting date after many residents protested when the hearing was initially set for March 31, when Toms River Regional schools are closed for spring break and many families are away on vacation. Meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Toms River High School North auditorium, according to the zoning board. Be there & help end this charade by the Chabad.

The Chabad Jewish Center’s variance application has been rescheduled for the March 31 Board of Adjustment meeting. Rabbi Moshe Gourarie — who is seeking a use variance to allow him to continue to use his Church Road home as a house of worship and Jewish community center — requested that a Feb. 18 hearing be canceled.
The March 31 meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be held at the Toms River High School North auditorium, according to the zoning board.
Be there & help end this charade by the Chabad.

This is only the beginning of a takeover! Look at Lakewood because this is where this is going. A home should be just that! Not a community center. And since when does an industrial park become a college? Look at all the schools and temples! These zoning laws need huge revisions. There is no stopping these sects once they get a foothold!

Chabad Rabbi requested cancellation of 2/18 meeting for "personal" reasons. Meeting of zoning board on 2/25 will set new date for hearing. After new date selected, don't be surprised if another reason to request cancellation is proposed by Rabbi.
Watch for new date to be announced on/after 2/25 zoning board meeting.

The congestion in Toms River is severe enough and a variance seeking a residential area to be altered allowing a school to operate in that area is a major area in judgement. Allow residents to be unaffected by increased taxes and decreased value on properties.
