DEMAND TO THE END OF UNSCRUPULOUS MUNICIPAL SERVICE DELIVERY TO THE GREATER CITIZENS OF THE GOVAN MBEKI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY.

The South African Constitution's Chapter 7 Local Government, Section 152 and 153 clearly states that local municipalities have a constitutional obligation to make certain that communities shall or must be provided with sustainable municipal services to satisfy their daily needs.

The daily needs are inclusive of :

  1. Supply of adequate basic services such as clean drinkable water, proper sanitation, constant supply of electricity, housing, proper roads and road maintenances, storm water drainage, solid waste disposal.
  2. Promotion of social and economic development
  3. Promotion of a safe and healthy environment
  4. Encouragement and involvement of the communities and community organizations in matters of local governance.

Concerning the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality, it's very clear that the municipality has no adherence or obligation towards upholding Chapter 7 of our countries constitution.

The Greater Communities receives unscrupulous, corrupt and unconstitutional municipal services where constant suffering, abuse and victimization tend to become a daily norm.

Enough is enough, now is time for the community(s) to unite; challenge and take ownership of our Municipality from the hands of the TERRORISTS by means of placing the entire Govan Mbeki Municipality under administration.

Indeed it is possible, indeed we do have the powers as communities to force change. Let us all stand in solidarity and rise to the occasion in exercising our constitutionally protected right of choice to gain access and receive sustainable municipal services to satisfy our daily needs with this petition.
