Their anti-Irish policy hasn't changed since they fired Jo Thomas for reporting the truth about British atrocities in the north of Ireland 20 years ago.

This use of stereotypes about the Irish is centuries old and is another example of racist comments by the ruling class about the Irish. Shame on the new York Times!

Their is no room for bigotry in this day and age.

What would you expect from the "paper of record" that lied the US into attacking Iraq? When will the Irish wake up and realize that their place is to stand with the Third World rather than try to emulate the "establishment" fascists that the NY Times represents?

For the reporters to feel the need to write the good, the bad and the ugly of what they deemed was the behaviour of the Irish students was not necessary. If the New York Times is bent in a negative tilt toward Ireland the reporters should have disregarded that tilt and investigated the shoddiness of the construction of the building and reported on the lives of these students, their hopes and dreams which will never be fulfilled. When tragedy strikes it is always best to see and embrace the specialness of the deceased. Naughty Journalists!!

I'm shocked by the NY Times' callous and shocking coverage concerning the loss of life of 6 Irish students in Berkely, Cal. was revoltingly insensitive and crude. I demand the Times publish a retraction and apology!

Sad day for all concerned. Sad day for ambiguous reporting.
