To reform the Intercountry Adoption process so waiting children can be matched with waiting families

Ireland is failing prospective adoptive parents by making the adoption process so difficult.

Not everyone can be a parent, but every child deserves a family..

Enough of this endless talking by minister Fitzgerald. Of course correct procedures have to be in place but without real political will to do it then come out and say there will be no further work on this. This is an election issue and if our politicians treat paps and PAC with such contempt by waffle and no real intention to help then that will be returned in spades at the ballot box.

there are so many lovely people in Ireland who would make fantastic adoptive parents. it should not be so difficult for them to adopt. please change this.

Please allow children the chance to grow up in a loving caring family.

Parents of 4 adoptive children but it has been hard getting through the process.

Its shocking how inefficient the AAI have been in implementing the hague convention in Ireland and effectivelyclosing all doors on Intercountry adoption. So many chiildren who need a family and so many families who could meet this need.

Change is urgently required.

Yes, the system seems to have ground to a halt alright. We have two daughters adopted from China many years ago and have friends who are looking to add to their families today. It is a hard process at the best of times made all the more difficult by the lack of will by the Government to support these families in their quest to provide homes to children needing a home. While the Hague Convention is a positive step in the protection of vulnerable children and strengthening of regulation around adoption, it does not mean that there are no children in orphanages requiring homes. There does not seem to be a will to find a way through this which benefits everyone - children needing homes and families willing to give this. Post adoptive support is also very limited for families experiencing any issues which also needs to be addressed.

procedure is too slow and there are many good parents that want children but cant, so why is this process so slow when all they want is to make there home a happy home and give a child the love and security that children all over need and desrve

Please add the following to the petition: Why should the Adoption Authority have the right to accept or reject, via the article 17, a potential match with an adoptive family without consulting the family.
