To reform the Intercountry Adoption process so waiting children can be matched with waiting families

It is imperative for all concerned that the minister reviews current practices in Intercountry adoption as the current situation is not beneficial to the hundreds of children requiring secure and loving homes

The adoption process requires urgent attention from our minister.

Post Hague, which was necessary for Ireland to comply with, the number of completed Inter Country Adoptions has all but ground to zero. The number of potential adoptive parents entering into the adoption process and waiting to provide a forever home for child seeking a home has in the mean time increased. The implementation of Hague which is enforced in this juristiction by Adoption Authority of Ireland, is in the most part responsible for this, in my opinion. I would like to request the legislators along with the Minister and the AAI to fully support prospective adoptive parents, in allowing adoptions to take place in accordance with Hague.

the small number of adoptions since Ireland ratified Hague is just unacceptable. Another major issue with Intercountry adoption is the fact that in effect it is only children categoriesed under 'special needs programs ' are available to Irish people whilst other receiving countries have a choice.

I am very disillusioned with the whole adoption journey, with only 11 Hague adoptions since Ireland ratified Hague

As it stands the journey from application to receipt of your Declaration is a long and emotional road, culminating in mountains of paperwork and endless phonecalls. In view of these facts the present procedures are too restrictive and doesn't allow for a change in circumstances for any of the parties involved. Such circumstances can be legal (either here or abroad, resulting in the country closing) age (children and or adoptive parents) and processing time (here and/or abroad). Such changes are highly likely, given the number of parties and time span involved. Therefore it is imperative that from the training/information offered to the PAPS to the issuing of the Declaration a degree of flexibility should be applied to reflect these possible changes.

Lots of loving family homes in Ireland, lots of children around the world needing them. The AAI need to look at their own mission statement '...best interests of children as our primary consideration." And act on it!

Adoption process needs to be speeded up, so many people waiting to adopt

I would stronly believe the whole area needs reform. The process for families is too long and too difficult for many. The area needs to be brought to the media so it can be highlighted.

Keep the pressure up. The whole system needs an over haul. Waiting eligible children and prospective families loosing out. Shame.

Hard to see how it's in the best interest of the child to be left in a children's home, which seems to be the reality under the Hague convention

This should never of Happened, Children are the innocent ones losing out on the Love of a Family
