So much for the dog friendly island. Come over on your push bikes in your hundreds but don't bring your dog !

You are punishing the vast majority of responsible dog owners for the sake of the irresponsible few. Dogs need to run free to get proper exercise and should be controlled by lead only when necessary.

Love taking our dog out of season to the beach to have a swim. Can’t see what the problem is, we always pick up after our dog, which is more than can be said of littering by some beach goers in the summer.

Dogs are a part of our daily life, they mean more to some people than humans, they are in fact some peoples only friends.

Dogs are one of the greatest joys in life. To dog owners they are members of the family. Banning them is like banning children from public spaces. On leads, yes, banned, no.

I understand that dog mess and sometimes dogs with attitude can be a pain. But this decision by our council is over the top and unfair. The isle of wight Council are renowned for stupid and selfish decisions. I.e, the chain ferry and costing to cross, the lack of fire fighters. Constant Rd works, council tax hikes, over night parking..... The list goes on.

Dogs should be welcome almost anywhere.

It’s a holiday destination for us and we are also in the process of moving, possibly permanently. We’ll do neither if a beach dog ban is placed all 365 days. The island will miss the revenue from thousands of holiday makers.

It would be evil to ban dogs from public places

Dogs need to let off steam too like humans for their mental health.

Ludicrous!! Bad news for all dog owners on the island and for any visitors, especially those that visit dog friendly caravan parks etc. I walk my dogs daily on St Helens Duver the old golf course(even Christmas Day). I pay the National Trust for a parking permit, which leads me to ask, how can the Council make up the rules for land they don't own ???

What a stupid idea, don't punish the good dog owners. Punish the bad dog owners.

Ridiculous! Where are people supposed to go? We will be known as the dog-unfriendly island, and anyone with a pet will never come here. I feel very strongly about this, and I don't even have a dog!
