Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

The main reason I come to the island so much is because it is so dog friendly. This will be a tragedy and stop many tourists.

As islanders we will be aware of this proposed ban but there will be holiday homers and people who have booked for next years holidays based on the dog friendly image the island has. I think we would all like to know what proportion of complaints came from mainlanders.

Fed up of the anti-dog legislation in this country. No legislation regarding children and the litter left by their families

Humans make more mess than dogs!

I fear, as usual, it is the actions, or lack of them, that the minority of uncaring dog owners are responsible for that is going to once more ruin things for caring owners.

Do not ban dogs in public areas, dog owners heavy rely on these areas to exercise their pets. Banning dogs in a public area will only lead to dogs being kept and home and not cared for correctly affecting their health.

Keep the Isle of Wight dog friendly. They enjoy their holiday as much as us humans!!

So long as people pick up their dog poo I am totally in favour of them enjoying a walk in the cemetery in the company of their animals. Draconian action to bring in such a ban and may backfire with people no longer caring about the cemetery and the inhabitants.

I understand the need for seasonal beach use by dogs, but a lot of people and visitors have dogs and are responsible owners

Where are dogs and their owners going to go.

Winter businesses will suffer. Less dog owners will want to visit the IoW. Under -exercised dogs become unhappy and tense which can cause issues. Under -exercised owners can also lead to physical and emotional issues!

Responsible owners will always pick up after their dogs. Those that let their dogs go and don't pick up will continue to do so, ban or no ban. How about banning crisp packets, drinks bottles, takeaway containers etc from public spaces. I find litter offensive and dangerous ( broken glass). Poo is at least biodegradeable!

I do not own a dog. Nevertheless, I strongly object to dogs being banned from any more sections of beach.

we are regular tourists with our dogs but due to this will consider boycotting the island

How on earth are they going to police the beaches when they haven’t even got enough money to fix the shabby roads!

Ridiculous idea.

Dogs need space to exercise. Dogs give people a sense of worth and help with mental health. Dogs shouldn't be allowed on the beach on summer or in playgrounds. But they should be able to run free in a park and play ball or fetch sticks. They should be allowed to run on the beach and play in the water, dig in the sand and throw seaweed in the air. Good owners just want a happy dog. Good owners care for their dogs environment. Please give dogs the chance to play.
