Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

Where will they go?? Haha

The only reason we come over to the Island is to bring the dogs to play - if we can't do that, we wouldn't pay the ferry fare to come over!

Unless there is a good reason to keep a dog on a lead they should be allowed off lead exercise it's essential for their mental and physical health

I have no problem with the current regimen on beaches over the summer months but a complete ban would be unfair. Often with these things it’s the minority that gets the majority - most people and dogs are well behaved but it’s the few that aren’t that prompt unfair change. My dog is kept on the lead in most places due to her inconsistent recall, but the beach is the one place where she can have a good run and focus her whole attention on playing with me which is fantastic for both of us (recall not a problem).

This is a very bad decision which will have far reaching consequences that those who sit in rooms in council offices will not have even thought of.

Who do these arseholes think they are?

Such a mean thing to contemplate. Most dog owners are responsible people so why should they be penalised for the few that arnt. Unfair

There is a lot of people who rely on their pets for companionship. This would be a terrible thing to do for them.

Most dogs are better behaved than some two legged users of public spaces.

We are supposed to be a country of dog lovers!!! But the only place I know where dogs not allowed on beaches,when it’s people that le@ve there muck and trash around

So this will just put more pressure on other paths. Will the council improve them to prepare for the extra use. I doubt it. Just is not fair to penalise most responsible dog owners because a few are not

Bloody discrimination against good dog owners

Most dogs and owners are cleaner than people who leave barbecue equipment and dirty nappies on the beach.

Penalise irresponsible dog owners (the tiny minority), who fail to pick up poop, NOT everyone else who enjoys walking their woofers in PUBLIC places.

Banning dogs from public places would preclude many from owning a dog at all. Smells like a money making exercise to me. Private companies issuing tickets by next year our council does not have interest in the iow ppl

This is not just for residents benefit lots of tourists bring dogs on holiday

Ridiculous kids and tourists make more mess.

We use therapy dogs in our work where we visit the beach with participants - this will impact on our work as well as people’s mental health
