Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

Not fair to responsible dog owners.

Outrageous.. we are known for being a dog friendly island. Tourists come here especially for that reason!

This is a terrible idea and the proposed ban on dogs in the public places should be stopped

Just returned from a trip to Italy and was surprised that dogs (on leads) are allowed in most public places including shopping malls. Can't believe the IOW council want to do this! There are so many other things they should be concentrating on!!

It is nothing less than outrageous to ban all dogs, when the majority of owners are completely responsible, because of the selfish actions of the few. It's an admission of the complete failure of IWC to enforce anti-dog fouling regulations for which the entirely innocent now will have to pay. To me, it's like banning all pedestrians from walking along the road because some of them drop litter.

Whatever next who sits in a office thinking of these proposals . Ludicrous

All dogs need space to run.

SO many reasons why this won't work: It will negatively impact on tourism - the Isle of Wight is much more dog-friendly than areas like Cornwall, and caters well for families with dogs. They will go elsewhere if this comes into force. It won't be policed effectively (there are no dog wardens, there is nobody already policing the problem of fouled streets etc) so it won't impact on antisocial dog owners, only responsible ones. It won't solve the problem of irresponsible owners letting their dogs foul pavements and parks etc, in fact it will make that problem worse. Even for responsible dog owners, poo bins along footpaths and town green spaces are often over full as they're not emptied enough. This problem will get worse if beaches etc are off limits. The summer/winter restrictions are effective on most beaches. During the winter and weekdays the only people using beaches are often dog walkers. (There's also this amazing thing called the tide that washes the sand below the high water mark twice a day...) There is no reason whatsoever to ban them from beaches out of high season.

This is absolutely ridiculous

We are tourists and visit the island about 6 times a year. We walk our dog on the beach at Sandown. If they are banned from Walking there and Yaveland we would find somewhere else to take our holidays. This will wreck your tourist industry.

Please do not ban dogs from any areas, I agree should be on leads, which ensures control of any animal especially during high season.

Please do not spoil this wonderful dog friendly island. There are already huge sections of beach where dogs are not allowed in the summer isn't that enough?

My family and I holiday a lot on the island, with our dog. It is hard enough to take a dog on holiday as it is, I feel this ban would seriously make visitors to the island with dogs think twice about coming.

it's ridiculous to do this, there are lots of dog owners on the island, people need places to let their dogs have a little freedom otherwise they will get stir crazy and it could create more problems than it solves, what is this island coming to, i feel oppressed, stressed and entirely unhappy here.

I walk my dogs on the beach daily and have done for 50+years I object strongly to this potential ban

If you ban dogs on beach....you ban tourists. We'll go to Northumberland...Where dogs are welcome on the beach!

Honestly beginning to think that the powers that be will not be happy until they have driven all tourists and the people who work in the tourist industry off this island. What a ridiculous notion. Why would you punish 1 specific group.of people... maybe we should ban all councillors from making decisions due to anti social behaviour.
