Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

Seems a very shortsighted and silly idea, the majority of dog owners are responsible caring people. Don’t punish them for the thoughtless few.

Don’t Understand the reasoning behind this decision dogs are part of a persons family and you will lose an awful lot of revenue because people will not come there on holiday because They can’t bring their pets it’s ridiculous

Pls let the public monitor their dogs behaviour rather than an over zealous council department with nothing better to do - Tourism is one of the major industries in the IoW and to make more stipulations regarding dogs will only damage this industry - do IOWCC want to shout themselves in the foot

The Island needs to stay dog friendly for businesses and the tourist trade

I am lonely, I love dogs but can't have one due to where I live.. I know if I go for a walk on the beach I will meet dog walkers. I talk to them and get to make a fuss of their dogs as well. I've made some friends too.

Ridiculous - punish the majority for the inconsiderate behaviour of the few!

Among other things having a dog helps the owners mental well-being. For the dog's mental well-being it needs to be able to meet other dogs, to sniff and run around. Why punish the vast majority of responsible dog owners for the irrespsonsible behaviour of the few.

It's not the dogs that make the mess it's lazy people

Going ahead with these bans would be an entirely foolish move. As the comments below will attest, one of the most appealing parts of this island is how dog-friendly we are, and the pathways and parks that dogs are allowed to freely roam are a wonderful chance to explore for both pup and owner.

We need to encourage tourists not give them reasons not to visit this lovely island

I'm trying to advertise the island as a very friendly place to holiday with your dog's. I have thousands of followers on Twitter that respond to my tweets and pictures if the iow. But today I've had to put the newspaper article on my profile warning people about booking holidays with their dogs to the iowbext year. Many are now thinking of cancelling their holidays owing to the and you are going to be enforcing. So it seems you are cutting your own throats and will loose many visitors to this lovely island.

This will effect tourism , the people who walk there dogs in these places are responsible.

Most dog owners respect the areas we are allowed in.banning dogs off the lead is not the answer .

Stop this ban. Free dog walking is an integral part of living on this island.

This would be a very silly thing to do. Many visitors I meet on my dog walks love the island due to its dog-friendliness. The council would do better to penalise people who leave litter and sometimes entire barbecues on the beach!

It's vital that people should be able to walk their dogs on the beach etc for the elderly and healthy family life getting out with their dog is good for mental health and wellbeing!

We holiday on the island most years, particularly because it is so dog friendly.

What is the council thinking of? A dog not allowed to access the sea? Political thinking gone mad!

We are trying to promote our Island to tourists and especially being Dog Friendly, how can the council be so short sighted in this, and what is their reasoning for bringing in the ban. The Island needs the income from tourism and local businesses benefit from dog walkers out and about in the off season.
