Please stop banning dogs from beaches. The UK tourism trade will suffer tremendously.

We spend at least 6 weeks a year on the island with our dog. I don't understand why we're banned from the main beaches other than the main school holidays.

So sick of the council trying to control us all the time!

This is ridiculous and laughable. People should be free to take their dogs wherever they like. More and more people are taking their dogs to work and shops are dog friendly and this helps their custom. The focus needs to be on dog owners who do not train their dogs or pick up their poop - which luckily is a minority.

Concentrate on cleaning up the Newport streets of disruptive teenagers and leave our well behaved family pets to enjoy the island we love and respect alone.

Let them ban dogs, see where it gets them. Dogs are part of life, what next, do we ban air and trees?! Whoever came up with this idea needs shooting

The Council should penalise the dog fouling culprits and not the responsible dog owners. Shame on the Council

Dogs are part of the family. So none of the counsellors own dogs. Can't see that. Totally out of their minds.

This proposal is a disgrace against all decent responsible dog owners!

Humans do far more damage and leave more permanent damaging rubbish than any animal.

Ridiculous proposition. What are the reasons for doing so? We live in sandown because of the beach. We are known for being a dog friendly island, how can this be good for us?

Sensible responsible dog owners do keep their dogs under control etc on walks, and dogs need places to walk & meet others of their kind, just as we do.

What a ridiculous idea!

I much prefer seeing dogs on the beach than litter dropping humans. Obviously owners must be responsible in clearing up after their dogs. Dog owners pay their rates and taxes. It is their right to use beaches and public spaces to walk their pets off the lead.

I won’t be visiting if dogs are banned. I live in Dorset and humans destroy our beaches every summer. Should we ban them
