Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

I’m not a dog owner myself but love to see dogs around and as long as they are under good control on a lead when need be/picked up after, I don’t see the problem. Dogs make me happy.

I love to see dogs out with families enjoying our beautiful island.

We often wall down to gurnard green with the dog and one of us sits on the green while the other has a swim. Why is a complete ban the option chosen.

Always the same.....behaviour if the idiotic and selfish few spoil it for everyone!

Once again, the actions of a few are being held against the many. Do not be lazy and punish those who are responsible in a blanket ban, communicate and seek a healthy alternative.

Don’t allow the actions and behaviour of a few irresponsible dog owners impact the lives of everyone else. The vast majority of dog owners on the island are responsible and considerate. Many older residents rely on their dogs for companionship. This change would affect them and countless others. Spend your money going after the few bad apples (and ban them from owning dogs).

It’s a ridiculous idea to ban dogs on beaches all year round. I can understand that they should not be there during holidays. IOW Council shooting themselves in the foot again! Higher fines are the answer not banning fro. Public places.

This island is getting more rediculous and suffocating by the day! Don't take ours/our dogs freedom away!!! I definetley won't be abiding by these new rules if enforced like many many others!!

That decision would be enough for me to consider leaving our beautiful island. I’ve never heard of such nonsense.

The proposed bans on dogs on some beaches and requirements to keep dogs on leads on others is disproportionate and unreasonable.

This is an outrage, fine the people who don't pick it up. The vast majority do hence the bins overflowing all the time.

The majority of dog owners pick up after their dogs. It's a shame that the real culprits who leave litter and mess cannot be banned from the public areas. Please don't ban our dogs, instead introduce higher penalties generally for those leaving litter.

Whilst I understand that dog fouling is a very big issue, I don't believe that banning dogs from so many public areas is the answer.

When I die, I want my dog to be able to visit me. This is awful.

We are responsible owners and always pick our dog mess up! It's a shame that those who do the right thing get penalised. Shame on those who don't!

Don’t penalise the vast majority of responsible people who walk their dogs. You wouldn’t consider banning people from beaches because some leave litter, that consumes far more resources. By far the biggest threat to injury is smashed bottles on the revetments at Shanklin/Sandown, Ban glass, ban drunks throwing bottles, damaging property. Aggressive dogs need struck control, the owners need to accept that, and a lot don’t .

Dog owners are very aware of picking up after their dogs unlike humans who leave litter strewn all over the beaches. For many people their dogs are their only company and not allowing them on beaches and in church yards
