Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

This is just wrong.

Unfair on genuine dog owners.

Wrong decision IOW council it will impact on our tourism trade , think about it, walkers, families, we already have a ban on beaches in high season , IOW council use your time to get on with things to improve tourism not destroy it

This is 'overkill'. Yes there are badly behaved dogs - or more likely irresponsible owners - but this is no reason to resort to these proposed draconian measures.

It’s not the dogs that need banning it’s the owners. A lot of these areas don’t have poo bins...I can carry the little black bags for miles sometimes but I do believe that keeping them on the lead is a must and maybe a compromise

I have loved holidaying on the Isle of Wight, out of season, with my very well behaved dog. Most of the joy has been walks on the beach with my dog. I would choose to go elsewhere if a ban were to be brought into action

Leave our dogs alone

Make more areas on leash only areas and not free running off leash. I’m signing as this idea could spread to a town near me!

Locals and visitors, most have our four legged friends and most are responsible owners. Is the proposed ban aim at horse riders? Do they get off their horse and put the poo into a bag? Could be discrimination, what is good for one should be good for all.

I can wait for the next local election I know whom I will not be voting for

Most dog owners are responsible and clean up after their dogs so don't punish the many owners based on the few dog owners that are too lazy to clean up after their pets. I personally don't like cats as they are free to do their business wherever they like and if it's on our property we are expected to pick up their mess not their owners so if you cannot ban cats from public areas why should dogs be banned too. Cats mess is far more of a nuisance given the bigger picture as no-one clears up after them.

Why punish dog owners and dogs like this when cats can still roam freely to kill wildlife and foul everywhere.

Some people should be banned, not there dogs.

I’m a member of 10,000 strong Paws on Plastic, each day I walk my dog on the beach I remove a bag full of rubbish, including broken glass, soiled baby nappies, baby wipes, cigarette butts, plastic bottles, bits of plastic, nurdles and other items of rubbish. Take away the dog walkers who pick up the rubbish daily and open spaces won’t be freely cleared of litter as they currently are. Now let’s look at local businesses who rely on dog walkers in the mid and low seasons who take to the beaches in all weathers, I’m aware that many businesses do not want to lose the dog walking trade that help keeps their businesses going in the colder months. Then there’s those who are lonely, have mental health issues, have mobility issues or who are disabled who find going to the beach with their dog ensures daily human contact, mental health well being and keeps beaches accessible for those with mobility issues. The solution is to work with Paws on Plastic, work with dog owners who always clear up after their dogs and find solutions for the minority who feel the rules don’t apply to them. Banning dogs and their loving dog owners will effect local businesses, mental health wellbeing, rubbish left on beaches. Please work with those proactive dog owners, don’t ban all of us due to the actions of a few.

The council needs to provide more bins for dog owners to be able to deposit dog foul mpre responsibly.

All places should be dog friendly in my eyes

Allowing dogs is the reason for annually visiting the beautiful IOW. You would lose alot of visitor revenue
