Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

Ridiculous suggestion. Concentrate the money where it is really needed - saving the environment, opening more public toilets, making the island more tourist friendly.

This is absurd people love seeing well behaved dogs enjoying there bond with humans.

I can’t believe this is happening, absolutely ridiculous! This hasn’t been a problem for decades, why now?! The few beaches where dogs will still be allowed will be overcrowded and people will complain, besides tourists that bring dogs on holiday and people who bring their dogs responsibly to graveyards. Totally stupid.

Just ridiculous. The fact that the Isle of Wight is dog friendly is part of what makes it so special and attracts thousands of holidaymakers with their dogs.

Absolutely ridiculous. How and where are dog owners supposed to walk their dogs? Perhaps spending money and energy on fining those who aren’t responsible dog owners would be a good start; before penalising us sensible dog owners who abide by the law, microchip and pick up their dogs mess. Such a shame and hope this petition will revoke this incompetent decision by the council.

The joy of seeing animals enjoying beaches is wonderful - our island is special and enjoyed by many! Better to be outside enjoying our environments than inside on electronics!

I have never heard such stupidity in my life. What next ban children too ?? Dogs are apart of family life.

What is this council thinking? Do they not know that the Island is marketed as being dog friendly. This is a great selling point for tourism which the Island relies on. The existing dog fouling and exclusion laws are not policed adequately so how to the council propose to enforce these draconion changes? Ridiculous idea we don't need a consultation on these proposals costing even more tax payers money just leave things as they are.

Why should we all be penalised because of the selfish idiots who are not responsible dog owners.

I walk around a cemetery,, my dog is on a short lead, also on the beach at Freshwater Bay erc were you are wanting to ban dogs,, a sensible dog owner who cleans up,, stop youths spoiling our park in freshwater next to kids play area, with the mess they leave and bins they smash,, no dog did this,, but it's left and nothing is done

Dogs are family members and if dog owners act responsibly I dont understand why dogs cant attend public spaces with them

This proposed ban runs counter to the culture, ambience and feel of the IoW - a shortsighted measure which will reduce the quality of the Islabd signficantly

Terrible idea. We'll lose all the visitors to the island who have dogs. Anyway, dogs are already banned from some beaches in the summer - why punish all dog owners for the misdemeanours of a few irresponsible people?

So many people take holidays on the island because they can bring their dogs , don’t let the council stop them.

This is an absolutely ridiculous proposal, Surely we need more dog friendly spaces to attract tourists, not less? I would love to hear the logic behind it, although given the IoW council’s track record I very much doubt there is any!

How ridiculous is this. They should be ashamed to try and enforce this plan. Hope you are successful or we will never visit the island again

In my little seaside town dogs are always welcome and we have constant tourists, who bring there dogs. Our posh hotels also make dogs welcome. This would be a stupid ban.

Dogs are as much as a part of peoples families as humans, stop this ridiculous idea.

Bonkers! This will affect residents, tourists and dogs! Exercise is great for us all, as is the companionship of a dog. Other areas are encouraging dogs, like Lymington where most shops are dog friendly. The council should get real, or get out.
