Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

My dogs are my family we take them everywhere we have had lovely holidays on the IOW please don’t make us stop coming

Dog free and limited period areas already on the island are enough.

I was planning a visit next summer but this would have to be cancelled as we have two dogs. Surely humans should be banned too as they can make as much if not more mess

Many people walk their dogs, on or off a lead, on a beach or public space daily. This is more than the average family use these spaces. Most days of the year, apart from 6week summer break, come rain or shine the dog walkers are the only people on the beach. Not only is it good for the dogs well being but also for the owners and the social side for owners and dogs alike. Heavier fines for irresponsible owners who do not clear up after their dogs, with dog wardens enforcing them, would be a better idea and welcomed by the responsible dog owners who would like to keep on enjoying the pleasure that using these spaces brings to them.

Punish those that offend don't punish those that don't simple as that

I have a spaniel dog who needs good exercise. We use wootton rec. We have never had any problems with anti social behaviour and I'm concerned that y dog will suffer as a result of being kept on a lead!

My dog loves the beach and water. Utter shame on the IOW council for even considering this.

I couldnt believe what i was reading other days. Dogs love the sea water, it good for their coats. Why should some of dog owners should have to suffer cos of people who dont bother clearing up after their dogs and people who dont repect the area by leaving their rubbish behind or even damaging the area!

horses leave far more mess than dogs our beaches and lanes are covered at the moment not very nice especially for the blind & partially sighted people.

Why does this have to change now after many many years of it being allowed? Absolutely ridiculous!!

His is a form of bullying

You will see a massive drop in visitors who pay for accommodation, food, drinks & other entertainment etc when on the island. Underestimate the revenue spent by dog owners at your peril. They will vote with their feet and go to more dog friendly places. I know many people who only go away in this country if they can take their dogs with them.

Taking your dog for a walk is a social and healthy activity.and the majority of dog owners clean up their dog mess.

The issue in these areas is more attributed to plastic bottles, tin cans and general litter. At least dog mess is biodegrade-able!! If your gonna start banning things then ban people with these items ha ha!! Dogs are already off limits in the summer from beaches I think that’s enough. Sort the litter issue if you can!! But all you do as a council is cut down on emptying the bins, not very sensible huh??

Absolutely disgusting proposition by this idiotic council

This is madness. Our nation is an animal loving nation and most dog owners are very responsible and aware of the need to look after and care well for their animals
