This is absolutely disgusting!! The IOW practically runs on tourism and the amount of families that spend their holidays here with their family DOG is unreal. Take that opportunity away and you'll be taking so much more from the residents.

I visit my mother who is an islander in Ryde and love freedom of walking our dogs on the beautuful beach. One of very few places left in country where we can let our pets run free! Please, please do not ban dogs from beaches.

We love the island because it is dog friendly. Please don't change this or we will have to go somewhere else for our holidays.

I love this island where I live with the freedom to walk my little dog on the Ryde beach. Please do not take another of our freedoms away from me and other dog owners who are responsible pet owners!

As a small business owner of a cafe on Small Hope Beach, this ban could seriously harm my trade & damage tourism.
The majority of my customers are dog owners & come down as the cafe & beach next door are dog friendly. Don’t do it!

There are already boundaries in place for where you can walk dogs. We don’t have a garden and walk our dog to our favourite spots 4 times a day. Don’t take that away from us.

The island is well known for having beautiful beaches and being dog friendly. To ban dogs would be hugely disappointing for dog owners living here, but could potentially impact on tourism too. I know of many people who visit the island as up to now it has been known as a dog friendly island. Think very hard before you bring in this ban!

Yet again dogs and dog owners victimised.
I hope the Holiday businesses support this petition and stop the council from ruining it for all dog lovers.

We have just booked an extra two weeks holiday on the IOW as it is so dog friendly. We would be cancelling if this goes ahead. What about all the human rubbish left on beaches and in parks. Think on IOW Council.........

Do you really want to ruin the Island by banning dogs. Dogs are not the problem it seems to be humans that make most of the mess on the beaches etc. Have guidelines if necessary. It not a ban! This is supposed to be a holiday island - look at all the other places in GB they are all promoting dog friendly holidays.

I can't see why dog walkers are victimised against because of idiots who can't pick up their dog poo! The majority of dog owners do pick it up.
I pay my rates so I Should be able to walk my dog where I like. I understand that dogs won't be allowed in cemeteries.
We walk our dog at Appley, using the cafes along the way. They will all suffer if dog walkers disappear.

This is a draconian measure that will punish considerate dog owners because of the actions of a minority and will seriously damage our tourism

What a moronic and archaic policy the council are pushing forward- we've always been known as a dog friendly island,we even produce a tourist booklet praising the islands virtues on its dog friendly areas etc,if the council has specific issues regarding dog related behaviour in certain areas, would it not be better to try to deal with those, rather than impose a frankly out-dated policy,at a time when other areas of the country are seemingly relaxing there policy regards access for dogs.

I love watching dogs playing in the sea and as long as they are well behaved and people pick up after them I don't see a problem.
