Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

We have been holidaying 3 times a year on the Island for many many years. We have always brought, children, grandchildren and our pets. We always respect everything about the Island, and high on that list is my responsibility with my dog. I ask you please, to continue to keep open, the areas that dogs are allowed at present. 99% of dog owners care and respect wherever they walk their dogs. I would not visit a place that didn’t want my dog. Please think seriously about your suggestions before implementing actions that will make visitors like myself, have to rethink where we holiday in future.

Do not penalise all dog owners on the behavour of a few. That is not fair!

Please don't let this happen,why leave the beaches empty when the dogs and walkers get so much joy walking on them in the winter months.

Ridiculous idea!!

The majority of dog owners are sensible, clear up after their dogs, and keep them under control. Their dogs are also part of their family, if not their only family. To arbitrarily ban “family” members from public places is totally unfair. Dogs do not run amok screaming and spoiling quiet peace, they do not leave broken bottles and litter lying around, they do not add graffiti to areas, they do not vandalise. To ban these family members is to ban the associated group of people. This is going to jeopardise the tourist trade that the IoW survives on. Please do think again. It also adds stress and frustration to local residents who use these areas year round. They are paying for these public places within their council tax. Will they get rebates if the areas are no longer available to them?

Stupid idea save the money and spend it on the floating bridge

A ban is so short-sighted. Encourage responsibility for control of dogs by their owners and not a blanket ban. Akin to banning ALL car drivers because of a few that can't abide by rules.

I have a dog and ensure that I always 100% clean up after her when out walking. I take this extremely seriously and also ensure she is not off lead when families are on beaches and only walk her where allowed. I enjoy walking on the Duver most of the time when it is not school holidays as it's very busy. I live in Seaview and use my local beach all the time. I know there are some dog owners that dont pick up their dogs mess but to penalise the larger percentage who do is wrong. Dont get me going on the horse owners who dont pick up!! Or the horse riders that gallop on the beaches when children are playing on the beach at The Duver!!

I don’t have a dog personally but I believe this proposal to be very wrong.

Ban dogs and you will lose many holiday makers.

This is a crazy proposition, our family and friends visit the island because it is so dog friendly, please don’t change it or they will find somewhere to go, to the detriment of us all.

This is a terrible idea.

I don’t have a dog. But the lifeline they are to some of my friends leads me to believe that restricting their access to these public spaces is unwise.

This ban would be awful for all the dogs on the island. also visiting dogs.

Yet again the Council fail to see how their actions will alienate vital visitors, who bring employment and income to the Island, and the local population alike. Dogs encourage exercise and social interaction particularly in the older members of our community. Families also benefit from having a dog in the same way. Most dog owners are responsible and clean up after their pets. In all areas of community living there are bad apples, those who park on pavements causing people to walk in the road, those who leave their rubbish in public ares or toss it out of car windows, I could go on. It's time to look at the positives and not allow our lives to be governed by the negative few.

We are coming over to visit this next week because IOW is such a dog friendly island as have my friends.

The IOW is a favourite holiday destination for my family and I. The dogs in public places are part of the charm of the island and add to our experience. We spend at least two weeks on the IOW each visit.

What an absolutely stupid idea the council are bloody nuts!!!!!!!!!!!
