Someone in the Isle of Wight council is trying to justify his or her existence!

All for the banning of anti so ialdrinking but not the dogs. If the IOW council took responsibility for catching the irresponsible dog owners who do not pick up thier dogs mess by employing a dog warden there is no answer. Most dog owners get very frustrated at the few lazy people who reflect on good dog owners. THESE people effect tourists opinions of the IOW as well. As a regular visitor to Devon, you ever see Dog mess because they actually monitor this, but you do see lots of dogs. No point having ineffective warden signs up when people know this is not being backed up.

A definate NO. Stop policing what should be natural

I am not a dog owner but I totally support the right of owners to walk their dogs on the beach in off peak times of the year.

Need to make more of an effort to stop dog owners who don’t clean up after their dogs and not restrict all responsible dog owners from taking their dogs out.

The proposals are far too heavy handed - the list of beaches etc needs to be heavily pruned. Also the ban period of May to September is far too long - any legislation should be applicable to the peak summer months of July and August only.

I walk on Seagrove beach daily with my dog, and usually manage to fill a poo bag with rubbish, washed up or left behind, by humans! Please don’t take privilege this away from our 4 legged friends.

Humans do far more harm in our beaches than canines. Yes, we should have some dog free beaches in the summer, but an all round ban is completely unnecessary. Dogs love to run in open spaces and this leads to happier and healthier dogs. Owners must pick up after their dogs .... as other beach users should pick up after their picnics, barbecues and drinking sessions!

I take my grayhound with me, to many venues such as the bank, pub and non-food shop if there is no sign to say "no dog". Almost all welcome her and many do not know she is there till we leave. Many breeds of dog need to run to stay fit and heathy. Responsible dog owner look after their loved dogs and happly clear-up after them just the same as you would for a young child.

This will really hurt tourism, not sure what the council are thinking of when the island needs all the tourists it can get.

I was gob-smacked when I heard about these draconian proposals, and will do everything within in my power to oppose them.

They just need to enforce the fines for picking up dog poo... just because a dog is in a lead it doesn’t mean the owner will be more inclined to pick it up. Lots of families have dogs and take there kids to the park with them for a day out.
