Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

There are enough restrictions on responsible dog owners already. I am happy for the council to do more to enfore the restrictions already in place, but they should do that before adding any further restrictions.

whilst walking my dogs on the beach i collect rubbish which has either been lefted by someone or washed up , The council dosent beach clean anymore , so the beaches will suffer .

This is an absolute outrage!! Come on IOW council! This needs to stop and people need to be fined for not picking up their dog poo!!

It’s a huge mistake to ban dogs

I cannot believe that the IOW council is even proposing this. It is unfair on residents and hugely short sighted regarding tourism. This legislation should not go ahead.

My Dad and step mum live on the Island and regularly walk their dog along the beach or around the greens. I think it’s ridiculous to ban them, just make more poo bins available and more severe penalties for those who behave irresponsibly. Don’t penalise the minority.

This is mad, if you ban dogs then holiday makers will go elsewhere. It’s humans that ruin things Not DOGS

I think you should ban people who drop litter and endanger wildlife. I'd rather a dog than a litter dropping human anyday.

If my dog is not welcome on the island - I will take him where he is welcome and save the Ferry fare!!!

Beaches are for everyone just fine those who don’t pick up

If this ban is implemented - I will probably stop visiting the island with my dog Milo - we currently visit about 6 times a year and this will put us off

We abide by the law and pick the dog pooh up. This would lose so much tourism for the island doesn't this council care.

Walking dogs is good for our health just get some dog wardens to fine those who don’t clean up.....

We bought a holiday home on the Island because it is such a wonderful dog-friendly place.

The people in the council who thought this would be a good idea have no idea what good dog ownership does for the community and peoples welfare. 60% of the isle of wight residence live alone and dog ownership is something a lot of the these people rely on for there social life and mental welfare. Banning dogs from beaches and public parks means these people will no longer meet each other and talk something modern living has nearly forgotten to do. The other major thing to consider is that many of the islands businesses rely on tourists and these often choose the island as they can bring their dogs. Banning the dogs from public spaces will only mean they feel unwelcome to the island and won't visit again. The council should spend more time looking into how to encourage people not too through there plastic rubbish around these public places then thinking on Banning dogs from them.
