Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

This is disgusting banning dogs everywhere my dogs enjoy going to the beach and the local park shame on you IOW Council

This rule is short sighted. One of the really nice things that occurs around the the island is the fact that people talk to each other especially dog walkers. I remember talking to a lady from Germany with a dog she told me that the people here are lovely and friendly, and that this would'nt happen in Germany. Catch the lazy who don't pick up.

The most narrow minded council in the country, surely you've got more to do that enforce petty bans like this?

I take my dog to the island beaches every day and he loves it. I think it would be a huge shame if dogs were to be banned from public spaces especially when the beaches are often completely deserted outside of summer seasons.

Do the Council not realise how much litter people leave in the parks and on the beaches and how much litter the dog walkers collect and bin!!!

I totally agree + understand the need to not have dogs in Cemeteries + play grounds, but Beaches ! It’s really a step too far!

How cruel can the council be , not to allow dogs to accompany their owners while attending family graves . Often these dogs are being looked after for loved ones that have passed away so it seems very unfair that they are not allowed to just sit quietly with you whilst placing flowers and tidying the grave . What harm do they do ? . I understand that dogs should be under control where children play for obvious reasons but to ban them from Cemetery's and Beach's seems very unfair .

This is down to a very small percentage of people who do not look after or clean up after their dog's properly

Why - we need to ask them (and who are the people who are making these decisions?) for their reasons as I am unable to understand any reason for banning dogs from public spaces.

This will stop many people visiting

The problem is the owners...….if the council budget allowed for more wardens ( That's a laugh by the way) and issue of fines for not clearing up after your dog, then this would not be necessary. Please rethink IOW Council

Don’t take away one of the only freedoms dogs have!

What a ridiculous notion, my dogs are much less of a problem in public spaces than humans!! We love taking them to the beach and always clean up after them, on an empty beach what is the problem.

I think it would be a big mistake to ban dogs as we get many visitors who come to the Island for the walking and bring their dogs.

What planet are these councilors on? Don't they realise the damage this could cause to our hoilday destination. If there is no enforcement of current legislation what is a total ban with no enforcement going to achieve?

We bought a flat here in January. A large part of the attraction is obviously the sea but we bought here bcs we can share the sea with our family dog. Not being able to take her on the beach will Benz major change; we have always commented on how lovely it is to have such a dog-friendly place to live - and being dog-friendly seems to make its people friendly too!

Take a leaf out of Cornwall's book, this is a very dog friendly county. It's brilliant.
