Plenty of island residents and visitors visit beaches and other public spaces around the island. The island is renown for being super dog friendly. If the Council go ahead with this ban they will be cutting the likelihood of visitor numbers and that will have a knock on effect on businesses linked to tourism.

Absolutely appalled at the council’s latest attempt to damage the Island’s dog friendly reputation.

I am 100% against the banning of dogs from our beaches. I own a holiday let in sandown and many of our guests come because they can take their dogs to the beach. I live right on the beach and love seeing dogs enjoying themselves.

Visitors come to the Island out of season specifically on walking holidays and a lot of these people bring dogs with them. We should be encouraging these people not punishing them at every turn. Get your heads out of the sand and visit other parts of the country whose Councils are forward thinking and see the sense in encouraging these visitors. If the ultimate aim of this Council is to totally ruin this Island then they are definitely on the right track.

It is only a few people who let the side down as most dog owners are responsible. Many like me clear up other people dog's mess. So don't put us all in the same box

I know there are some irresponsible dog owners, but it is not fair or right to penalise everyone with this type of ban.

There are dog free beaches during the summer months quite rightly - dog and owners should be allowed to freely walk their dogs on beaches - off lead, during the winter season.

The majority shouldn't be penalized for the minority of bad dog owners.

The banning of dogs from all of these places would significantly hurt the Islands tourism economy given the percentage of families who now own a dog and who are most likely to staycation
