Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

My dogs love the beach and most dog owners respect the picking up rule and what beaches their dogs can go on. Please don't ruin it for the majority because of the few.

This is a very heavy handed way to deal with a small minority of people who don’t pick up their dog mess. Enforcement of current rules would do the trick without penalising many law abiding dog owners. Many visitors love how dog friendly we are.

Don’t be silly ... it’s not the dogs misbehaving

People need to responsible be able to walk dogs. Banning the from so many places is not necessary.

I love walking my dogs, and always pick up, I would never let them bother other people, these restrictions are unnecessary. In some cases the land is owned by national trust, what is it to do with this Tory rabble?

I am signing this for our dogs as a resident of the isle of wight we all enjoy the freedom.

It is ridiculous to ban dogs on the beaches and recreation area's is it a April fools joke early? It must be someone in the council that has a beef about dogs full stop

Majority of dog owners are very responsible and many visitors to the island also bring their dogs, as its known to be a dog friendly place to visit. Even all the local public houses accept dogs and now your saying ban them from all the lovely walking areas on the island. Nothing i love more when i am out walking, is all the lovely well behaved dogs enjoying the parks, beaches and other walking areas. Most of which are pensioners, retired people, where their dogs are their companions and exercise buddies. Shame on the people to start this petition.

Another ridiculous proposal from the fun police. Where exactly will we suppose to exercise our dogs in future? As always there will be little evidence to support whatever reason(s) the Council will give to support this scheme, which will once again feel like a knee jerk reaction to a handful of complaints to the detriment of the majority...fed up with this all-or-nothing society. Our only hope is that the Council is strapped for cash so won't have the resources to police this for very long and they can go whistle if they think it will stop me from enjoying our island with my trusted four legged companion.

100% with this - was considering setting up my own petition the the detail comes out. I even think dogs (on leads) should be allowed in cemeteries. Banning them ignores the fact that they are family members too.

This is an outrageous proposal. The cast majority of dog owners are considerate and would not allow dogs to upset walkers etc and always clear up mess. I do agree dogs should be kept on leads in children's play areas.

Enough with the dog band.

Dog walkers use the parks and beaches all year round in all weathers. In Ryde the beach is fairly divided in summer between dog and non dog areas, with a lot of visitors on holiday using the dog friendly part. As pubs and restaurants are becoming more dog friendly it is ridiculous that the council wants to implement this and as a result deter visitors.

I have several dogs that need there exercise, to stay fit and well ... what is wrong with these do Gooders soon we want be able to have them in our own gardens!

We have been holidaying on the island for over 35 years and love bringing our dogs, they love to run on the beach, if the ban goes ahead, the island will sadly lose another tourist family

Our council could do with taking a leaf out of the way dogs are treated in Cornwall. It is the dog friendliest place I've been to.
