Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

I cannot believe the IOW council are even considering this. It is so sad that those owners who do not pick up are spoiling it for the many. Shame on you. Please don't ban the beaches and the Duver.

It’s a very British thing to do bringing you dog on holiday. Don’t band dogs from any more public spaces. It will ruin the holidays for so many tourists. Besides owning a dog is beneficial to health.

These places are really valuable for everyone’s mental health, being able to share this time with their dogs so beneficial. What about all the rubbish left by humans, dirty nappies, cigarettes, food. Just remember dogs have been major part within war and conflict, saving many lives. This is always forgotten what these animals have done. Bad owners who do it control their dogs, clear up after them, are no reason for many responsible owners to suffer and not have enjoyment with their best friend. Stupid idea again from the IOW council!!!!

Just the right action to dissuade pet owner visitors to the IOW, how stupid can councillors be to even be thinking about bringing in such a stupid law against some of the most law abiding pet owners in the UK. I will most certainly thinking twice about visiting the IOW in 2020.

I think it’s absolutely appalling that dog owners are treated this way. Surely the council has better things to keep them occupied rather than hounding dog owners who are largely law abiding citizens.

I am 73. thankfully I am still mobile and can drive, but there are many elderly IOW residents who use the proposed dog exclusion areas because they are in close walking distance to their homes and it is a social outing for them. This will be severely restricted, even curtailed, under the proposed new rules. Also, we pay towards the upkeep of recreational areas through our Council Tax so surely we are entitled to use those areas for our own benefit? And, mainland holidaymakers will be put off coming to the IOW for their breaks as the ferries are already too expensive and if the Island is no longer dog friendly then where is the incentive? I have had dogs for the last 14 years and I have always cleaned up after them and followed all the social requirements with having a dog. so why should I be penalised on where I can walk my dog just because others don't care less?

I will be very cross if I cannot go where I have been able to go in the past, with my dog. I ALWAYS pick up after my dog, and she is well behaved.

Dogs are part of many of the Island people families and as long as their owners are responsible for clearing up after them they should be allowed in my opinion thank you.

Keep the beaches open to dogs from Oct-Mar.

I totally understand banding dogs from Playgrounds for 52 weeks. Beaches in the summer, as before...but NOT for 52 weeks.

Utter clowns, heres an idea.....get all of the unemployed Herberts that have no intention of ever working in their lives to put their spliffs and sky remotes down and go out to these proposed ban locations and keep them clean if it's that much of an issue to non dog owners?!

I deplore more restrictions on where we can take our dogs. Responsible dog owners pick up not only their dogs mess but that of owners who are not as responsible or have not spotted what their dog has done.!

We have been coming to the island for many years. Enjoying beautiful scenery making new friends and dog walking. This will all stop if we cannot walk our dog. On a typical ferry journey, 40% of people have dogs. If this is going to stop, why does wightlink devote 2 pages of its magazine to saying that the island is one of the top destinations for people with dogs. Some thing doesn't make sense. Can the island survive without the income from tourists.

You will destroy your tourism business, been coming to the island multiple times every year for 30 years with my dogs. I like many other tourists will no longer come and spend money into your island economy, your tourism business will shrink dramatically, this is a short sighted idea that has alienated both island residents and tourists alike. Just go onto social media and gauge the opposition.

This ban will affect the quality of life for so many island residents who regularly walk their dogs.

A beach walk with your dog is a healthy life style, so why let the council stop it.

I was brought up on the island. I loved taking my dog and family on Adventures all over the island. This is pretentious of the council. How to the council think there going in forces this by locking up old young a like. This is absolute poppycock
