Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

Ridiculous overreaction to a few irresponsible dog owners. Punish them instead?

As a dog walker I feel that the island is a much loved dog friendly place where we can visit many places and take our much loved dogs, where it may be a beach with the kids or bars cafes and restaurants. Or even to see loved ones that have passed and having that pooch there can be a big and warming comfort. See this is a message for the council!! When will you stop with all the rules and regulations? I put enough taxes into this country and am a respectable dog owner, and feel that you are discriminating dog walkers that could result of abandon parks beaches, and if you keep on loss of revenue for local businesses. Please do not do this

Dogs should be allowed on the beach

Top of the list of requirements of holiday accommodation is can I bring my dog. This is draconian and counter productive.

This is a crazy idea. We visit the Isle several times a year, with our two spaniels. We are good dog owners and our dogs are well behaved and considerate also. If they are not welcome we just won’t come anymore. We holiday with our dogs, period.

This is yet another example of IWC thinking up an idea to upset residents' and visitors' way of life rather than actually running let alone improving the services on the Island that we need.

I always enjoyed walking my dog through here (Cowes cemetery) on many occasions and think it is unfair that those visiting long lost relatives with their dogs will no longer be able to. Also, for many of us, the reason we have a dog is so that we get some exercise and as such, want to be able to enjoy the beaches on the island with our pets. Put up the fines for dog fouling and prosecute more if this is the reasoning behind the ban. All good dog owners will be responsible for their animals and any impact they would have on beaches.

This policy won't have any effect on those who are irresponsible they will go on doing thoughtless things, it will punish the holiday makers, those who like to visit graves with beloved pets, folks who get company from other dog walkers, IWC where is your common sense? Dog owners pay council tax too.

Banning dogs is not the solution, as it will stop many holiday makers coming as well as they can’t take their dogs with them. More poo bins would be a much better idea

Well that will be my holiday gone. If your going to take away the dog friendly beaches, which you only have a few all year ones, then you should supply areas just for people with pets that are well open and have sufficient bins in said areas. Your economy will be devastating if this is what you propose. The council are not thinking of the money lost for the smaller shops or the revinue it recieves from all the attractions that people visit while on holiday

This would be a travesty if we are no longer able to walk through the cemetery with our dog, he is never off lead and very respectful

Bannning dogs is riduculous. Personally the louts on the Island cause more mess and anti social behaviour than dogs. Why don't the council deal with that issue!!!!

If the issue here is dog poo and litter etc ,why isn't there any bins for the above, Suggest warnings of a heavy fine if seen doing the above as well. I don't think it's a political issue with council it's an issue with inconsiderate people who don't care about the problems . Nearly every street or road in Cowes suffer with the same .

I know a lot of people who visit the island be cause they can bring their dogs and have the freedom to take them to lots of places here
