I have purposely bought a holiday home on the island with a view to retiring over here in 2 years. We visit at least once a month and bring friends over who all spend a lot of money. The reason we chose the island is because we have a dog who loves the beach and fields etc. We also have a couple of houses on the island too that we rent out. If the ban comes in we will look elsewhere on the mainland for property and sell the houses we have, taking away the income for the island. We are responsible dog owners who pick up not only our own dogs poo but other, irresponsible, owners dog poo. We are not alone. This would finish the tourist trade on the island completely. Think very carefully before you agree to this as it will be professional, island and political suicide.

Totally unreasonable and appalling. The IOW council have caused enough damage to the Island and let everyone down on too many occasions. Making it an unfriendly dog zone can only cause more damage. Dogs are people's families and businesses. The Island is a big dog friendly place taking this away will only cause more hatered towards the council and make it a place where far less people will want to visit. The IOW council should again be ashamed of themselves.

I pick up after my dog on the beach along with sweet wrappers, plastic and all the other rubbish that finds its way onto the beach, and many other dog owners do the same. Should we stop the holidaymakers using the beach?

This would be an unfair law. Don't punish all dog owners because of the faults of a few. Allow people to have the freedom to allow their dog equal free run and space to enjoy.
