Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

Beyond belife, this could even be considered.

The public spaces are for all not just dog haters. If the dog walkers are not there I’m sure that fly tippers will soon fill the gaps.

I believe the vast majority of dog owners who walk their dogs in public places don't want to walk where dogs have soiled and therefore clean up after their own pets! There are a great many small businesses that are able to stay open during the winter season mainly through the fact that dog owners walk all year round and many stop for a hot drink, snacks etc during the winter. We are a responsible country and dog owners should not be penalised by restricting access to public spaces. As the Island caters for many older people, many of whom have dogs, walking along a beach or esplanade on the flat is essential and restrictions would be catastrophic for them.

As a responsible owner of 2 dogs I really enjoyed walking through the parks, on the beaches and the forest. If a ban does happen where will be able to walk and thinking of this some of our residents walk their dogs while in wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Responsible dog owners cause no problems - the others will probably flout any rules anyway, so what is the point of this?

I go to the I o w with my dogs every year so I can walk the beaches this could stop people coming over

I think a more robust Fining Order on Dog Owners for not picking up after their dog has fouled would be a much better option.

For many people, often the elderly, their dog is their only companion, and a lifeline.

When I visit the island to visit my sister and brother in law I bring my dogs and all of us to for lovely walks on the beach. Absolutely beautiful.

This is ridiculous! As long as dogs are kept under control and you clear up after them why would you ban them?! Next the council will be banning them from coming over on the ferries!

Please don't ban dogs from running free on the beach. Remember it's their holiday to when they visit this amazing island

That would not be fair to all dogs and their owners.

The majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up after their dogs. Why punish them as it is a minority that dont pick up.

As a regular visitor with dogs this is ridiculous and will lose many tourists

The only problem walking dogs in the cemetery are the owners who DONT keep their dogs on leads and DONT pick up poo. Why should l be penalised because of these people

I’m not a dog owner but this plan is unfair on 98% of owners that care for the dogs. If you really want to change things properly fine dog fouling once it’s done regularly it’ll stop. And lastly I suggest a phone call to Cornwall council who tried to do this and the tourism dipped so low that they had to revert.

I enjoy the peace and quiet of walking my dog in the cemetry, but I always keep him on a lead and clean up after him.

Don't ban dogs, ban the owners who don't obey the bylaws.
