You should target the irresponsible dog owners who don’t poop scoop and not the majority of responsible dog owners who do. Tourism is also a vital part of the survival of many businesses on the island and by preventing families bringing their dogs on holiday with them, they will inevitably choose another destination - these businesses will suffer and many will not survive.

One of the islands attractions is its dog-friendliness. Yet another Council idea to reduce tourism.

It would be totally ridiculous to ban dogs from open spaces. Be stricter on the few that dont pick up their dogs mess.

Damaging to tourist trade would be irreversible if this were to go through
Dogs are the wrong target for anti social behaviour in fact dog walkers help to prevent vandalism by making it uncomfortable for the vandal to commit his crime by the presence of other people. Also look at every cafe and pub who welcomes dogs as we all struggle for trade in this uncertain economy, we can't afford to alienate any one don't turn our foot fall away and don't bring about these un policable rules.

Losing a lot of tourists whom visit with their dogs isn't the greatest of ideas!

This makes no sense. The majority of litter/rubbish etc left is by tourists/families etc. Not dog owners. Perhaps installing a few more bins/penalty signs for dog mess would be more useful? You will otherwise be prohibiting the enjoyment and daily necessity's of the residence. Not to mention the amount of holiday makers who now will not go away without their dogs. The first thing I and many people do when looking for holiday destinations is check that the beaches etc are dog friendly. I understand that the island could be considered a small community compared to some..however every town and part of the British countryside has a problem with people who don't pick up after their dogs/leave bags around. It would be ludicrous to instill these rules in any place and punish the majority of well meaning dog owners. You will lose custom and force dogs and their owners into smaller spaces, so the irresponsible few who do not pick up their litter will just be leaving more of it in a finite space. No logic whatsoever. There are other ways.

Dogs deserve to be with their people. The people who don't like dogs should be the ones who are banned.

One of the many things I like about the Isle of Wight is that my dogs are welcome so many places. It’s a holiday for all of us.
Please don’t let the ignorance of few ruin the privilege of many.

Better to encourage dog owners to poop scoop than infringe on the people’s freedom. Walking dogs on the beach has been a long term tradition throughout the ages

Dogs love the beaches & they are not responsible for the rubbish left on beaches..they should not be punished for human errors

This is just ridiculous. I feel sure councillors have better things to think about than banning dogs.
